This will not be a bulletin board, this will be a blog, because the bulletin boards were taken over by obnoxious spammers who plagued it with hundreds of ads through dozens of IP addresses. However, this blog will contain much of the same content that was prominent on the boards - that is, frequent updates on various projects I'm working on. If you want to contact me about any of these, e-mail me at matthornb@aol.com.
| May 30, 2007 | BUSINESS BOOM
HornbostelMedia.com has grown extremely rapidly. It's only been around since the end of January '07, but it has already drawn some 900 visitors. The website has more videos up than this one ever did, including "Sleepwalker" and many other videos, new and old, often in multiple resolutions. Traveler's Enigma is near completion. The Media Resources page offers galleries of paintings and miniatures, a stock footage collection, an e-book, and a password-protected members area. I've already made a few product sales online, the media site is my first business - but most everything is still available for free. The contract section has a contact form and extensive galleries from two contract jobs I've done. All in all, there is a lot of stuff to look at on www.hornbostelmedia.com. Go Check it out! , |
| February 9, 2007 | TOTAL RECONSTRUCTION OF WEBSITE
I've obtained a lot of new space, and two additional domains. That means that www.hornbostelfamily.com has been heavily reduced - my movies and projects are being placed at the Hornbostel Media website, including the new video "Sleepwalker", an enhanced "Traveler's Enigma" page, and a look at the upcoming e-commerce section of the site. And then, there's the new Boy Scout Troop 4 website. All indicators are currently positive for the three websites, I am now getting over 150 unique visitors per month and that is sure to increase as my web content increases. The business and media site (www.hornbostelmedia.com) has a great deal of financial potential. |
| December 2, 2006 | "Super Soda" is available online here. It's a fun little 14-minute comedy, available in YouTube form. The "Traveler's Enigma" page has also been updated, and the top of the main page has been redone. Oh, and I should inform you, I'm planning to place ads in various places, hosting this site costs a lot and by putting adverts up I can reduce the cost of running the site (which frees that money up to pay for, among other things, future media projects) |
| November 24, 2006 | Send in the Clones 4 is now available on YouTube. |
| November 20, 2006 | "Sabotage 757" is on YouTube. Soon other stuff will be soon, too. Come visit the site on the evening of November 29th - I'll upload "Super Soda" around that time. And, it's being shot with my new 3ccd Panasonic. It's a nice camcorder. Oh, and not only are the videos getting higher in quality, but the game will, too. Since YouTube will be hosting so much of my stuff, I figured I can afford to make the game download a bit bigger - say, 180-200 MB, so the quality of the web version will actually be decent. |
| November 16, 2006 | Hey, more updates. More info on the project I mentioned earlier is available here. It's worth checking out. Expect some massive updates in the next month - release of "Super Soda", release of "Traveler's Enigma", and the transfer of much of my work onto YouTube. |
| October 30, 2006 | Okay, a lot of neat stuff is going on. God's really been good to me lately - Connections with clients, earned $500 this month and got to donate over $200, which makes me so happy...
Anyway, "Sabotage 757" (The project mentioned on the 11th) is now online at this webpage. It's a short, fast-paced video involving a plane lost over the Pacific, poison, and parachutes. The VFX are typical of my recent work, though they are not my best stuff. I'm now shifting into editing the DVD of "Faithful", David Ello's show (The main theme for the show is available here. I'm also gearing up for another movie, 12-15 minutes in length. It's a comedy involving soft drinks, robots, video games, rubber duckies, telemarketers and... Well, it's really nuts and it has a bit of a dark edge. Though it has the potential to be my funniest movie in recent memory, if it's done right. I'm currently in the casting phase for it, expect it to show up 4-5 weeks from now, about the same time as the internet release of "Traveler's Enigma".

| October 11, 2006 | PC software "Enigma", mentioned earlier, is going to be available by December 2006. The product will be 100% free, as with pretty much everything I do. The CD version, I hope, will spread virally, people are permitted to create and distribute copies of the CD, and give them away free, but are not allowed to modify the files on them, or sell the contents. The internet version will be highly compressed, possibly at a filesize of approximately 90-100 MB, compared to the standard 500 MB program. That means the graphics will be lower quality, the sound quality will be worse, etc. Exactly as you'd expect on my website ;P The program is in a "Myst IV"-style format, and in terms of total explorable area is maybe 60% of the size of the original Myst. It should take about 6-15 hours to complete, for those who don't get sick of it and give up... The game info is available on this webpage.
There's also a minor project due for release soon, which involves poison, air travel, and bad weather. It is short, heavy on CGI, and makes use of my recently acquired water tank. I won't really explain it because there's not that much to it, it's 3 minutes long. Anyway... |
